University and Court Debate on if the Ebos/Hebrews are the sons of Israel or just Illegal immigrants:

Yisrael Today originally reported in 2006 how the Chief Rabbinate recognized the Ebos (Heeboes) as sons of Israel (click here to read).  However, the registration process was delayed due to the consideration as to whether the Ebos/Hebrews were received as a returning tribe of Israel or as new immigrant converts.  But when the Ebos/Hebrews were stopped by the Israeli Immigration Police they did not respect the documents that recognized the Ebos/Hebrews as ‘Jews’ because the paper work was not filed on their status in the State of Israel.  Thus, they stilled considered the Ebos/Hebrews who migrated to Israel as simply being illegal immigrant workers in the country.  The interesting contradiction is that when most Jews originally settled in the land of Israel before the establishment of the state they were largely consider illegal immigrants.  Nevertheless, they began arresting Ebos/Hebrews when found on the streets and even coming from the Ebo community synagogue in Tel Aviv.

Meanwhile in Eboland, Daniel Lis, a PhD candidate from the Institute of Social Anthropology at the University of Bern and Institute for Jewish Studies at the University of Basel in Switzerland, heard about how the Ebos/Hebrews were sons of Israel (from a Har Ararets Magazine article on Oct. 12th, 2005 shown on right) and decided to do a study on the Judaism of the Ebos/Hebrews in Nigeria.  He contacted Ebo Chief Elvis Ike, the head of Igbo Interest World Wide and made plans to continue his study in Israel.

Mr. Lis arrived in Israel and made request to Chief Ike to meet with the Ebo community.  He was introduced to Chief Hi Ben Daniel, the Head of the Ebo community Synagogue in Tel Aviv.  They invited him to their synagogue and showed him information concerning their culture and history.  Chief Ike introduced Mr. Lis to Sar Howshua Amariel, the first person to translate the ancient Hebrew Torah (‘THIS REPORT’) and the director of the Israel branch of the Yisraelite Organization of Unity, at the time when Igbo Interest World Wide was signed into the Y.O.U as a Torah based community (click here to read).  Captain Amariel showed Mr. Lis the translation of the ancient Hebrew Torah, historic and archaeological evidence which links the Ebos/Hebrews to tribes of Israel. And after Mr. Lis saw all the information that the community had on their Israelite heritage he was very impressed (video available).

At that time, articles were published from within Israel (including the above one from Mareev) to inform the public of how the Ebos/Hebrews were being arrested and deported by the immigration police with extreme tactics.  After Daniel Lis read these articles he was concerned and wanted to help bring the issue up into public discussion; he contacted Dr. Galia Sabar the head of the Department of Middle Eastern and African History at the Tel Aviv University in order to organize a public debate on whether the Ebos/Hebrews were Israel’s lost tribe or illegal workers in the Jewish state.

The Department of Middle Eastern and African History and Department of Sociology and Anthropology invited the public to a special meeting at the S. Daniel Abraham Center for International and Regional Studies in the Tel Aviv University at Hall 133, Gilman Bldg.  The event was initially on the 13th of March yet was rescheduled to the 20th (day before the New Year of the month of Abib) because of the student strikes in the Israeli universities.

Speaker Daniel Lis and the moderator Dr. Galia Sabar also invited Chief Ike, Chief Ben Daniel and Sar Howshua Amariel to the event of the scholarly gathering to speak and answer questions if necessary.  In addition the Y.O.U director, Sar Amariel, asked the two other Y.O.U communities in the State (the K.O.Y & Bani Yahweh leaders) to send representatives yet neither of them attended.   Daniel Lis gave an introduction statement to open the meeting. Chief Ike gave his opening statements on the history of the Ebo people.

“Honourable ladies, and gentle men shalom,

Let me add a little to what Daniel has said.  At this level of research on the origin of the Ibo's, it will be premature and contrary to commendable tradition of scholarship to assume as irrelevant.  Every information or research work deserves careful examination before negative or positive opinion is formed. We strongly believe that it's only the truth shall set us free.

Before beginning with the Ebo's as the children of Jacob-Israel, I would first like to clarify our general ideology in approaching the link between the Ebo's and ancient Israelites in other to avoid what may cause unnecessary prejudice, debate or conflict concerning the subject.  Ibo's claim and evidence as to their Israelite origin should not be misconstrued as a means to scrutinize present day Ibo religious practices, and affiliation nor should it be seen as an attempt to move the Ibos to the land of Israel. Quite to the contrary, as the Ibo's claim to being a true part of the missing seeds of the house of Jacob-Israel negates and replaces the illegitimate misinterpretation of our rights to reclaim our long lost identity, history, culture and heritage. Ibo's primarily supports their claim to ancient Israelites, Hebrew and the modern day Jewish brethren that controls the promise land, is Tanaq or Bible based. I promise you our facts are overwhelming.

All of us here or at least most of us here will agree with me that the Bible or Tanaq is the greatest God inspired book ever documented and written by man. This book is the pillar with which the state of Israel was founded and established. In which case, this book is very dear to the Jews. At this point, without further waste of time, let's have a quick look into some verses from the Bible for us to digest.   INGATHERING; Ezekiel, 46; 27-28, Amos, 9: 14-15, Ezekiel: 39: 25-27, Due: 30; 1-5, Jeremiah; 32; 37-42.

ONYX stone: Exodus; 39; 6-14.

GAD; Gen; 30; 11, Gen; 46; 16, Num; 26; 18.

ERI; Gen; 46; 16, Num; 26, 16 & 18.

For those of us who are genuinely interested in knowing the truth, we are conducting the second expedition and exploration of Ibo land this coming Oct. Expedition and exploration of Ibo land is a Hebrew/Jewish heritage and educational tour that will take you to ancient artifacts.

2) Eri's last sojourn, his sacred chamber and grave.

3) The fascinating Hebrew inscription on the floor of the palace dating hundreds of years before the white men stepped their feet on our soil. You are all invited. Our invitation is open for every person irrespective of your race, religion, gender or individual ethnicity to come, witness and bear witness to the early settlement of the ancient Israelites.  The tour is scheduled to be very exciting and very educative.

Compounding on the research as put forth by these scholars, researchers and authors, one will begin to gain a tremendous understanding of what we are saying.  Dr. G T Basden, an Anglican missionary and Anthropologist who dedicated in his book; "the Niger Ibos, an entire chapter to the similarity between the Igbos and Israelites. Prof. Elizabeth Isichei, an Australian historian, "a history of the Igbo people".  Olaudah (ikwuano) Equiano; an Ibo ex-slave, "the interesting narratives". Prof. O. Alezi; an Ibo scholar, "Ibo's lost tribe of Israel, truth or myth".  Melville Mereskovits, an American writer, the myth of the Negro past.  Etc.

Thank you all for your attention.”

The stone Chief Ike mentioned that was under the throne of the King of the Ebos/Hebrews in Nigeria had ancient Hebrew written upon it. Sar Howshua Amariel, the first person to translate the ancient Hebrew Torah (‘THIS REPORT’), after viewing a picture of the inscription cited that the inscription was a Hebrew word (‘LTN’), which meant ‘of give’.

The discovery of the Hebrew writing on the floor of the ancient palace of Eze Eri in Aguleri, Eze Chukwuemeka, by a combined research team from Israel and Nigeria led by Professor O. Alaezi– a writing that existed hundreds of years before the arrival of the Whiteman in Nigeria; the archaeological British finding at Agulu in about 1917, 500 feet below the soil, of a Star of King David in solid bronze, indicative of a people that might have migrated from the ancient city of King David; the vast overwhelming evidence of cultural similarities.

One scholar, who visited Iboland, saw swastikas there and questioned how the Ebos/Hebrews could have this symbol and be Jewish.  Sar Amariel answered the question stating, “This is an ancient Hebrew symbol that represented the sun.  We know that among the American Indians the symbol was used for that purpose and they have even been found in ancient synagogues side-by-side with the Star of David.  The Vikings used the swastika to symbolize Thor’s hammer (the boomerang) in motion as it was thrown from and returning to his hand.  Symbols similar in shape to both kinds of the swastika designs have been found around the world.  Also one of the oldest known swastikas was painted by early caveman at least 10,000 years ago.  Every race, religion and continent honored one form or another of the swastika.  Known by different names in different cultures, the symbol was used by the Persians, Greeks, Romans, Celts, Anglo-Saxons, Mayans, and Aztecs, plus it has been used by the religions of the Hindus, Buddhists, early Christians and Jews.  Around the 1800’s the swastika was the symbol adopted by a growing number of Germans nationals, groups who believed in the supremacy of the German people and nation.  In 1910, the symbol took on a negative ideology when a poet and nationalist Guido von List suggested that the swastika was a symbol for all organizations who hated Jews.  When the National Socialist Party, later to be named the Nazi Party, was formed in 1919, it adopted this ancient symbol.  Because of the actions of the Nazis between 1930 and 1949, the swastika has taken on the worst meaning possible.”

In conclusion of this public debate, the overwhelming information presented to the scholarly audience was received with considerable respect.  But again unfortunately, they all agreed that the issue of the Ebos/Hebrews in the land of Israel was not a scholarly issue nor a religious one, but an issue that was left to the State (video available).

Nationwide media attention (on the Israeli station channel 1 ‘Mabatt’) was put on the Ebo deportation subject.  Eighty Ebos/Hebrews were deported because their conversion process wasn’t registered with the State of Israel.  The center of the controversy was upon Chief Ben Daniel who was arrested and had to battle in the Beth Din (courts) the legitimacy of the Ebos/Hebrews Judaism.  Ben Daniel and two other Rabbis were also charged with accepting funds, falsely re-circumcising (pricked) & converting 80 Nigerian people and making a false Aliyah process with documents not recognized by the State.  So Chief Ben Daniel was asked by the director of the Y.O.U, Sar Amariel, to come down for prayer at the house of Yahweh in this time of need.

June 12th, 2007, Chief Ben Daniel came to the House of Yahweh and made prayers for the safety of his people and himself to be successful in the court hearing.  The House of Yahweh was always considered the place to come when the children of Israel were in need.   At Judges: 20:18: It was written “And the children of Israel arose, and went up to the house of God, and asked counsel of God, and said, Which of us shall go up first to the battle against the children of Benjamin?  And the LORD said, Judah shall go up first.”  So appearing before the house of Yahweh for guidance in this situation was appropriate.

Sar Amariel stressed the reason why this case was so important for all of the Israelite people.  “We believe that this is one of the most significant events to happen in the Israelite community. For the first time the Hebrew Israelite presence has been confirmed on the West Coast of Africa. At the time that the Hebrew community became aware of the Falashas in 1836 by Martin R. Delaney most Hebrews adopted the name Ethiopian as apart of their organization's titles (although there were no direct connection between them and the Ethiopian community). Most Ethiopians would proudly tell you that only a small minority of them were taken into slavery. And most recently the Lemba have been proven to be descendants of the Cohenim through DNA. Nevertheless, their history records among them say only a small minority of them were taken into slavery. Yet, the Ebos/Hebrews in Nigeria on the west coast of Africa were majority of Africans that were taken into slavery to the Americas beginning in the 1600's. Historians show that the Egbo Society communicated by using a secret Ebo writing system known as that of Nsibidi. Nsibidi symbols were recently discovered to be engraved on a number of African-American tombstones in Virginia.

They also confirmed that most of the slaves brought to the Americas came from Nigeria hence the term "Niger or Nigger" and later becoming a derogatory word. So in this confirmation of our brothers the Ebo, that consist mostly of the tribes of Gad, Zebulun and Issachar, is just the tip of the 'ice burg'. Because in this confirmation it confirms the beliefs of many of the Hebrew Israelite communities in the United States that they were brought on slaveships from the west coast of Africa, mainly Ghana and Nigeria (in the fulfillment of Bible prophecy). So what we have seen in our lifetime is a completed trail of black jews from Israel down to East Africa over to West Africa and into the slaveship bound for the Americas (click to view the map of this trail). Yet the issue that is truly in question is the Hebrew/Israelite migration to the land of Israel.”

Ebos/Hebrews from all over the country were asked to come to show their support for a positive outcome and also the Israel Y.O.U director Sar Amariel attended and he also asked all other Israelites to come out to support the Ebo community because 95 percent of Hebrews in America claim to be of African/Hebrew descent.  In his appeal to the K.O.Y (or the African Hebrew Israelites of Jerusalem) and SCLC'S Conflict-Resolution Center in Dimona, he stated “The Y.O.U organization was founded when the K.O.Y. community was in its time of need (on the 17th of April 1986, 46 of their members were arrested and considered for deportation) and now the K.O.Y organization is a member of the Y.O.U.  So since they now have status in the land it should be their duty to help others over the same persecutions they once had not too long ago.  I’m asking Ben Ammi to come and help them just as he and his community was helped by me 21 years ago under the same circumstances. (click here to read proof of this statement)  And AGAIN although the African Hebrew Israelites of Jerusalem (or K.O.Y) was invited to show their support for the African Ebo/Hebrew people they declined to send any representatives from their community or the SCLC Conflict-Resolution Center.

On the 14th of June, Judge Zeeva Haddasi-Hermen over courtroom number 459 of the Beth Din handled the case. The Judge found that the reason the documents the people had weren’t registered with the State was because of the delay of the Rabbinate from filing the documents when considering whether or not to recognize the 80 people as a returning tribe of Israel or as new immigrant converts.  The Judge (after they reviewed the evidence and process that the Ebos/Hebrews did in the State) concluded that their Aliyah was legitimate and said that there was no fault done by the Rabbis or 80 Ebos/Hebrews, plus they should not have been deported by the State.  After this triumphant victory one quoted “Our prayers at the House of Yahweh were answered with this amazing victory.” However, despite this victory none of those who have been deported have returned since.

Yet since the negative media coverage on this situation the Immigration Authority switched its tactics to working on a platform of intelligence and investigation, focusing on the trafficking of women and forged identity documentation such as identity cards and passports, rather than rounding up illegal foreign workers.  A former director of communications and policy planning in the Prime Minister’s Office stated to the Jerusalem Post in 2001 “But rather than neglecting these people, it is time for Israel to start reaching out to them, assessing their claims to Jewish ancestry and acting to help those worthy of assistance.  The various organs of the State, such as the Jewish Agency, the Chief Rabbinate and the Foreign Ministry, need to look more carefully at this issue and give it serious consideration.  For a country struggling to find potential new sources of immigration, groups such as the Bnei Menashe and others like them might very well provide the answer.”  We at Yisrael Today News advise our people to come to the State of Israel in the land of Israel, not to the Jewish State (in the land of Israel) through the Rabbinate’s olem laws, because the Rabbinate doesn't seem truly understand what a Jew is according to the heart.  Court cases in Israel have revealed that the religious Olem status for converts can be revoked at any time based on their feelings of who is a Jew or not.  But our people should come as the sons of Israel according to their blood (with DNA), with all rights of the freedom of religion to worship according to the ancient Hebrew Torah. The Israeli declaration of independence filed with the United Nations stated that the State of Israel was established in the land of Israel with the right and freedom of religion.  Thus, the ultimate way for us to return to our home country is through the State declaration of independence that gives all the sons of Israel the right to return to the land of Israel that is the State of
Israel.
