“KNOW THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE"

An Open Letter To Our Readers

Shalom My Brothers and Sisters:

In the early part of the Spring of .1986 a group of brothers and

sisters from various Hebrew‑Israelite backgrounds decided that they

would take their own past, present and future history and/or "history"

into their own hands and launch the first volume of YISRAEL TODAY

NEWSLETTER. Of course there were many reasons and long heated discus-

sions as to why this endeavor had to be undertaken and finally we all

came to the basic consensus that there was just too much none inform

ant misinformation circulating throughout the Hebrew‑Israelite com

munities on a local, national and international level often from our

very own people. Subsequently, we further labored that we Hebrew‑.

Israelites were dependent upon other sources of "media" to tell our

story, and consequently our story many times became the story of some

other people no longer resembling the original people or there

original intent. Therefore our story not so strangely become

fragmente,4, misinterpreted, abstract and in many instances fabricated

to such an extent that the original story being reported had little

truth left to offer to our communities and even the universe as a

whole outside of our way of life!

We at YISRAEL TODAY NEWSLETTER also came to the conclusion that it was necessary for us to address the Hebrew‑Israelite communities collectively, that is, the different scriptural elements that have divided us as a nation but certainly scriptural elements that could be reported in an un-prejudicial and unbiased way.

We as Hebrew‑Israelites must agree that we are not fighting a physical war but a spiritual battle and ultimately our weapons must be LOVE, UNITY and RESPECT for one another no matter how expensive the cost of humility is and we must override this cost with total all consuming love for one another, coming together as one people in wisdom, one brotherhood and one nation all united under one God, YAH. Yes, we know at TISRAEL TODAY NEWSLETTER throughout our Hebrew‑Israelite African diasporas history different Knesset organizations have had different methods of accomplishing their pursuits and this has often lead to organizational and spiritual confrontation, until disagreements were so strong until one Knesset organization of Hebrew Israelites would not communicate with another group of Hebrew Israelites, sound familiar? Of course it does!

We at YISRAEL TODAY NEWSLETTER are merely Hebrew‑Israelite brothers and sisters fighting and enduring. Until the bitter end within this prophetic generation, in preparation for the next generations until we through our spiritual battle regain our stolen ground, and become exclusively of the image of our God YAH. We are learning an exhausting spiritual awakening and lesson via this process.

An Open Letter to Our Readers ‑ Continued

We must incessantly pray bringing forth our prayers and supplication, and fasting, diligently we must present our case tearfully as in the order of the priestly line of Melchizedek so that collectively we will ultimately become the birth of a WHOLE, NATION once again in righteousness and TRUTH. We are all one people; never forget that, no, no matter where we are in a geographic sense.

Subsequently we at YISRAEL TODAY NEWSLETTER bring you TRUTH (a righteous knowledge of reality), in LOVE. We present this TRUTH as unbiased and un-prejudicial as possible. We present to you not a lot of rhetoric or occult metaphysical meanings but the manifestation of the WORD OF YAH. We present to you news of a people scattered "throughout the four corners of the earth" and my brothers and sisters we greet each and every one of you in this first volume YISRAEL TODAY NEWSLETTER in total peace.

YISRAEL TODAY PROPOSAL FOR UNIFICATION

The Israelite Today News Staff met in the summer of 1986 in Chicago, Illinois under the basic concept that there was a lack of communication within the Israelite communities on a local, national and international level.

It was our basic consensus, therefore, that we as Israelites must take control of our destiny, i.e., record our own minds which is also the mind of our God TAB, whereby ultimately and systemically using as weapons of war the advanced communicational networks that presently control our people.

Therefore, it was our first intent to address this communicational deficiency by consulting with the heads of various Knesset and/or organizations to form a coalition to confront these numerous different issues facing the Israelite communities at large.

We went out to confront the various leaders. What followed is the resulting interviews.

Our first interview was with Apostle Yehoknanan Amen. We approached him with Yisrael Today's Proposal for Unification, his response was, "It is time for the various Hebrew leaders to come together and to collectively discuss the various things that face us as a people." Apostle Amen went on and stated, "Even various gangs can come together. It looks bad that we, the people of YAH, cannot."

We, being very encouraged by Apostle Amen's response, went on to speak with Cohen Levi of Mahaneh Yisrael, 1641 Roosevelt Road, and this was his response to Yisrael Today's Proposal for Unification. "I have no objections to that whatsoever. I think that in 1986, since we are about 14 years from the year 2000, that we as the leaders of the nation must come to develop some form of symposium to address the problems of our people, not only here in the United States, but in Israel as a whole."

Seeing that Apostle Amen and Cohen Levi received us and gave us very positive responses in reference to Yisrael Today's Proposal for Unification, we approached Rabbi Haphtali, who is Assistant Rabbi to Rabbi Shemaial Clark. Rabbi Naphtali informed us that we should speak with Rabbi Clark concerning Yisrael Today's Proposal, and so we did. The conclusion from that meeting was that we should meet with the Midwest Regency Israelite Board of Rabbis. We met with the Midwest Regency Israelite Board of Rabbis and the Chairman of the Board was Rabbi Hodges. The response that we received was that the Midwest Region of the Israelite Rabbinical Board joined the National Israelite Rabbinical Board at a meeting held in New York on August 29, 1980, under the leadership of Rabbi L. B. Levy. It was agreed at the meeting that we would form in the State of Illinois and the city of Chicago, a chapter of the National Rabbinical Board, whereby we would use the National Board's material in our academy and do all of the things to promote unity and brotherhood among the Hebrew Nation.

3

So their response to our proposal, specifically by the Regency Board of Rabbis, which consist of:

Rabbi Ruben

Ethiopian Hebrew Congregation

6734 South Aberdeen

Chicago, Illinois

Rabbi Hodges

House of Israel Temple of Faith

7130 South Chicago

Chicago, Illinois

Rabbi Shemaial Clark

El‑Bethel Hebrew Congregation

10806 South Eggleston

Chicago, Illinois

Rabbi Ahdam Ben Israel

Tabernacle of Israel Culture of the Hebrews

1512 S. Karlov

Chicago, Illinois

was that they were willing, i.e., The Regency Board of Rabbis, to meet with and to discuss with all Hebrew leaders or teachers on the issues that are facing Hebrews collectively.

The next Rabbi that we spoke with was Rabbi Richard Nolan of the

Kingdom of God. His response was very positive in reference to the

attempt on our part and efforts to unify our people, however, he in

formed us that he alone could not make a decision on the issue of

would his Knesset take part in the initial meeting for unification,

and we were also informed that he would have someone from their board

to contact us in reference to Yisrael Today's Proposal for

Unification. Some weeks later, we received a call from a repre

sentative of Rabbi Nolan's Knesset, Nimrod Yisrael, who

was requested by Rabbi Nolan to contact me for further information on

the proposal. We talked for approximately five hours that night on

the goals of Yisrael Today in reference to the proposal. The conclu-

sion of.:the conversation was very positive. He told me he'd contact

the board of his knesset and give them a very favorable report in

reference t ' o the endeavor that we.had undertaken, and that we at Yis-

rael Today would hear from them shortly. Unfortunately, as of this

time, we have had no response.

The next leader interviewed was Prince Elkanah of Kingdom of God, 205 East 75th Street, Chicago, Illinois, and his response to Yisrael Today's Proposal for Unification was, "I would like to give all praise and honor to the Almighty God and to all those in the four corners of the earth seeking righteousness in his name. Divine peace unto you all. I would just like to say to all of the different Hebrew congregations that we of the Hebrew‑Israelite Nations of Jerusalem are reaching out. And that I as representative in Chicago for Rabbi Ben Ammi, I am willing to come and sit and break bread with you and talk with you and discuss any of the things that you might have heard or things that you know as related to the movement and see if we couldn't

correct any differences and get it straight from me so that we can have a correct understanding of one another. And I would be glad to come to your congregation and talk to your people or talk to you privately, or if a group of rabbis would be willing to meet with me and talk with me. I would be pleased to come and talk with you and explain our position.

We sought the response of Elder Eliyahoo concerning Yisrael Today's Proposal for Unification. Elder Eliyahoo is of Righteous Branch of African Hebrews, 3142 West 22nd Street (Cermak), Chicago, Illinois. He responded by saying that we must take a proposal up with their board. We contacted the Chairman of the Board, Moshe Ben Israel (Elder Eliyahoo's son). His response was Lhat the Righteous Branch of African Hebrews passed a bylaw prohibiting the attendance of any of RBAH representatives to attend any unity conferences. I questioned Moshe in reference to this law passed at RBAH. His response was that it was passed due to past experience in reference to unity conferences.

The following excerpt was taken from History, The Bible, And The Blackman, Vol. 1, No. 4(1976):

"The idea of UNITY for oppressed people is not a new idea. We who accept an Afrikan‑Israelite heritage certainly are aware of the idea of UNITY, in fact, do we not all know and believe that in the final analysis we have ONE GOD, ONE AIM, and ONE DESTINY. The idea of UNITY is so serious to the Righteous Branch of Afrikan Hebrews (RBAH) that our collective leadership teaches us not to play the UNITY game, i.e., we (REAH) do not play the UNITY game. Now, every so often certain Israelite groups ponder the question of UNITY, more specifically, they talk of the UNITY of ISRAEL. Some even take it upon themselves to get 'the heads together'. While these futile attempts may or not be done in earnestness, and, some may think these earnest attempts to be admirable we (RBAH) try to look a little deeper. UNITY is not brought about by talk and rhetoric. Plainly, the diversity or differences between the Israelite groups or organizations has to do with doctrine and practice (behavior).

Because a man or a woman professes to be an Israelite (Hebrew Israelite or even a Black Jew) is not sufficient reason to embrace that person as a 'brother' or 'sister'. Wisdom has long taught us to 'beware 'of wolves wearing sheep clothing,' for instance, we have in the U.S.A. alone some 250 Israelite groupings with estimated total memberships' between 10,000 to 350,000 persons, yet, there is no centralized Israelite authority or orthodoxy, or, even a minute ongoing umbrella group to present a united front in terms of doctrine, practice, and institutions. But, should there be? RBAH challenges any of the unity‑seekers to go and check out the historical record of ancient Israel, and, see when and at what times Israel has been a united people.

The harsh truth is that the unity‑seekers either do not know what

UNITY is, or do not know why it is that people unite, coalesce, or

make alliances!!! RBAL' goes on record in the midst of such rampant

confusion not to play the UNITY game. Why? Because we are a self

determination organization we do not seek out other Black people to

unite with who do not desire to be with us, also, we do not allow

others to persuade us to act on issues that do not concern us under

                                        5

the guise of UNITY. In other words, any Israelite or Black group has a right to act in whatever manner they see fit, the only thing we say is: ~~c do not speak for us (RBAH) we will speak and act for our organization through the leadership we have authorized to act in our behalf. Furthermore, we will only unite with those with proven standards of achievement and behavior who are God respecting and law abiding both in this Gentile land and law‑abid4ng according to the TORAH and TANAACH, and, who are on the record as being consistent in terms of tradition and reason in accord with time, place and the circumstances in which we live under today."

We visited the Congregation of Israel located 5444 S. State and spoke to Messenger James B. Stearas after their Friday night class (7:30 PM9:00 PM).

We introduced ourselves as Yisrael Today News Team. Messenger Stetarns was informed of our proposal for unification and his response was that he would be willing to sit down and talk to any Israel teacher in reference to the work toward our unification of Israel.

Moving on with our purpose for unification we went on to the next Knesset on our list which we have comprised.

The Israelite Bible Class at 95th and Wentworth where the Brother Lonnie Autrey hosts as the Chicagoland representative. We first approached the Bro. Lonnie after their Bible class and explained the Yisrael Today's Proposal for Unification. The brother's response was that he would have to take it up with their community. He said he'd have a response for us in a couple of weeks. On our return visit Brother Bruce, who is the second in charge under Brother Lonnie, informed us that Brother Lonnie was in the hospital and that he, Brother Bruce, was unaware of our purpose for unification. So I provided him with a copy of our purposes for unification. Since we were requested to present a written copy for the community. Brother Lonnie had said he alone could not make the decision by himself but that the communityor congregation made all decisions that govern the Bible class. ~o the following week we returned with our purpose and proposed it. I inquired as to when Brother Lonnie Autry would be out of the hospital and Brother Bruce informed me that he didn't know. So in three weeks we returned and Brother Lonnie was there and he informed us that he had not received the copy of the purposes for unification so we provided‑ him with another copy and inquired as to the time in which we would receive their response. Brother Lonnie informed us to return within 2 weeks. Within 2 weeks we returned and the response we received was that the Israelite Bible Class would not care to participate in any unification or in the discussions with another HebrewIsraelite other than those of their class. Nor to have representatives of any one or two individuals to meet with other Israelite leaders to discuss anything in reference to Israel unification or any other issues that face the Israelite community as a whole.

We moved on to the Israel of God, located at 1717 E. 75th St., Brother Henry Buie being their spiritual leader. We spoke to Brother Buie in reierence to Yisrael Today's Proposal for Unification and he stated to us that within their knesset every man was his own man and that if anyone within the knesset wanted to attend the unification conference then that would be up to that individual with his blessings.

6

We went on to the next Knesset which is commonly known as Yahweh Ben Yahweh which is located at 1316 S. Troy and we spoke to their Chicagoland representative Elder Eber and we informed him of Yisrael Today's Proposal for Unification. His response was that he, being a representative of Yahweh Ben Yahweh could not make a decision to establish communication without contacting his superiors in Miami. We left a proposal with him and asked for a time in which he might get a response in reference to our proposal. He said within 2 weeks. We returned within 2 weeks and the response that we received was that Yahweh Ben Yahweh was the Savior and that their community in Chicago could not communicate with anyone or any organization in reference to the unification of Israel that did not identify with Yahweh Ben Yahweh as being the unifying savior of his people.

We moved on to the next Knesset which as B’Nai Zaken, 4233 S. Indiana were Nasi Yaakov is their rabbi. We unfortunately could not get in contact with Nasi Yaakov. We spoke to someone at their Knesset who informed us that they would be meeting and discuss the unification of Israel. He gave us a number that would put us in contact with Nasi Yaakov. We called the number once, twice and the third time and the response we received was that Nasi Yaakov was not in. Calling the number the fourth time I heard a commotion in the background so I asked "What's the commotion?" His response to my question, he informed me that this was a pool hall and that Prince Yaakov could be contacted there every now and then. I left our number with him and ended our search for Nasi Yaakov.

The last Knesset that we were aware of within the Chicagoland area was the Congregation of David, located 106 W. 158th St. in Harvey, IL. Where Shepherd Bishop Ivory J. Johnson is their spiritual leader. We informed Bishop Johnson as to what we at Yisrael Today had proposed to various Israelite leaders within the Chicagoland area. His response was that he would be willing to come to meet with anyone who was working toward the Unification of God's people.

Being out in Harvey, we sought again a response from Rabbi Nolan's Knesset which we had called on earlier that day to inform him we would be stopping through. We arrived at the end of their class. He informed us at that time that they had set up the committee to inquire what we at Yisrael Today's objectives are. With this inquiry our objectives were revealed and also personal data was accumulated as to my family size, my background with the Israel Community, my business status; and also my personal opinion in reference to the Torah. So at the conclusion of this inquiry, I received very positive responses as to the anticipated support in reference to the unification conference that would be held. At the conclusion of that meeting I was informed that they would get in contact with me after they voted as to what position their Knesset would stand. They were to call me to let me know their results. After receiving no response within two weeks time I called them. I spoke to Rabbi Nolan and he informed me that they at the Universal Kingdom of God would not be able to attend the unification conference. Being surprised at this response, I inquired as to what were the factors that resulted to this conclusion. He told me that he could not give me that information but that they would support the paper in any way possible.

In conclusion this is to say that 10 of the leaders that we talked to said that they would come and attempt to discuss the crucial issues that are facing the Israelite community as a whole. These leaders are:

Apostle Yehkhanan Amen

Rabbi Hodges

Rabbi Ruben

Rabbi Shemaial Clark

Ahdam Ben Israel

Messenger James B. Stearns

Cohen Levi

Prince El Kahn

Bro. Henry Buie

Shepherd Bishop Ivory Johnson

We at Yisrael Today would like to commend them for their concern for the Hebrew community at large and we would pray that they could take this concern to the negotiating table to fasten our people together as one body serving YAH.

As to the five leaders that expressed their regrets that they would not be able to attend, I would pray that within the near future that YAH would move them to reach out to communicate to work with and to build with their fellow brothers and sisters the coming Kingdom of YAH.

Shalom, Shalom

FOOD AND HEALTH

Vegetarianism

by

Yael Sarah Yehudah

Recipes by Nehemah Yisrael

Our human bodies are powered by solar energy which we consume directly from the sun, or indirectly by eating the products in the form of foods which had stored this energy from the sun.

In short the history of food is a history of energy. Through the process of photosynthesis plants convert the energy of the sun, carbon dioxide from the air and minerals and water from the earth into atomic bonds. We can then consume these forms of energy directly by eating plant foods and fruits (vegetarianism), or indirectly unfortunately by eating animals who have eaten these plant foods. The process by which foods gets broken down in the body and by which energy is released from atomic bonds is called digestion.

It is known that excessive meat consumption in the United States (Babylon) has been scientifically linked to increase in heart disease, carcinoma of the colon and other diseases. On this wise it should be almost an motivational decisive factor to consider vegetarianism as part of the Hebrew‑Israelite way of life. In so doing we as Hebrew Israelites must realize for every cause theie is an effect where by sickness, disease, pains and bodily disorders are all a violation of YAH's law. For us as a Nation to reach our heavily state, or perfect God‑minds we must struggle to become again of the order of YAH and this includes proper food consumption whereby as we cleanse our bodies as well as our minds and ingesting and embracing proper nutrition we ultimately become part of the divine life we are fighting so hard to, achieve.

Sickness, disease, pain and other disorders are all the powers of the old evil one Satan brought on by disobedience and transgression of YAH's righteous holy ordinances and cycles. When our bodies are properly nutritionalized and taken care of our bodies have all the properties within to heal themselves whenever occasion brings about injured tissues or organs offsetting the chance for disease.

"for we are what we eat"

Vegetarianism is now practiced in many Hebrew‑Israelite families across the world and as the popularity of vegetarianism increased so does the need and desire for new and tasty recipes.

These recipes can offer you and your family nutritional, vitamin enriched and economical advantages as nature has a unique way of supplying us with everything we need, especially vitamins and minerals which we obtain from fruits, grains and vegetables. In preparing our vegetarian meals choose from an abundant array of these fruits and vegetables provided for us by our Creator YAH. The following vegetarian recipes are a dining pleasure that you and your HebrewIsraelite family are certainly bound to enjoy.

I WISH

by

Yael Sarah Yehudah

I wish I could walk amongst the mountains of Jerusalem pray to YAH upon the hills.

I wish I would leave Babylon (make haste) find the ship of Zion, sail the sea until turbulent waters flow into the peacefulness of the Great Rivers, Tigris & Euphrates

I wish I could taste the vine from the vineyards of Jerusalem as her grapes from the vine are tender, her mandrakes are the pleasant fruit, her moon is clear, her sun bright, she is like the honeycomb, sweet her gardens are waters by the fountains of truth in the True and Living YAH.

I wish I could smell the fragrances of henna flowers and touch the cedar woods, rafters of firs and see the trees ~f Lebanon, pick from the apple trees choice fruits.

wish I could tell the shepherds and prophets they have been heard, this lost sheep has found her way, understanding the Word of YAH.

For Oh how fair is Jerusalem, the bride of YAH. All eyes are upon Jerusalem as YAH speaks to her, hills and mountains for Jerusalbm is YAH's belovea.

He has embraced her and wiped her eyes free of tears, Almighty YAH has

brought her forth into the bridal chambers of the Universe, He has

quinch ' ed her thirst, He has built her a palace, trimmed in gold,

jasper and sapphires.

Jerusalem is the head.

I wish I couldgo back to my land Jerusalem and walk upon the mountains and pray to YAH upon the hills as in the day of old, as in the days of old....‑..
